It was Wednesday and Cheryl was heading to yoga class. She had her blue tracksuit on and lime green hoody and trainers. At the class Cheryl was with a bunch of mums. She did not think she would fit in at first but eventually she relaxed and got on with the exercise. Some of the stretches where very hard to do and the teacher said to not do anything that strained you. Cheryl decided to do it anyway as it would help her get thinner faster.
'The instructor said that if you did too much then it would make your body weak but what does she know!' thought Cheryl.
Her next class was karate on Friday. She went along and they fitted her out with a sort of white coat. She was told this was her karate outfit and she was to wear it to each class. After her first test she could earn her first belt if she passed.
She saw someone thrown over someone's shoulder onto the ground and winced.
"Isn't that painful?!" she asked an instructor who was the same age as her.
"Well, sometimes!" he smiled.
She learnt kicks and punches. It was quite fun. She got to shout a lot. Very distressing.
Gymnastics was on Saturday. She did her homework and then got on a bus. At the class she was put in with the littlest kids which was not very good since they were about four! She had to do a lot of stretches before she could actually get started. She would have to get a lot more stretchy before she could do some of things the little kids could do which was a bit embarrassing but she would get there eventually. She told the teacher who was like a mum to all the kids, that she was doing yoga as well. The instructor told her that that would help her get more flexible for some of the trickier moves.
"I'll have to do this to get more limber for some of those yoga positions!" Cheryl and the teacher laughed at the thought.
Now Sunday had come and she would be heading to book club. Cheryl was very excited. She wondered what kind of people would be there. When she arrived she was the youngest one there! She was not daunted this time though because she had had this before at yoga. They were all women.
"Now our book that we will start reading today is called, 'He's Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys' by Greg Berhendt.
"You mean like the movie!" I was excited now.
"I don't think it's the same as that!" she smiled kindly at me, she was a middle aged women with small, round spectacles and a messy bun that was dyed brown with hints of grey, her clothing was smart, a knee-length skirt, cardigan and pearls, her shoes were shiny and high, "We also have a new member," she had a mean sparkle in her eye, "This is Cheryl Kean."
"It's Cheryl Green actually," She told the women.
"Well, lets go round in a group and tell you all our names. I'm Elizabeth."
"I'm Taylor," said the young woman next to her who looked like she was in her twenties, not much older than Cheryl, she wore smart clothes similar to the women next to her but with a much fresher feel and she did not have pearls, instead a rather surfer looking necklace hung from her neck, she had juicy red, spiky stilettos on, her hair was down, long and slightly curly at the end, she gave Cheryl a cheeky smile.
"Missy Hart," this women was American and in her late 20s, she has light chocolate coloured skin, dark brown hair, brown, sparkly eyes and a blazer and knee-length skirt, stockings and pumps with a slight heel to them.
Cheryl wondered if they were all business types who had just returned from long trips abroad.
Next up was a women in her sixties who looked like she was in her late 40s, she wore an arty top, had mid-length hair was grey and had woven in coloured string, she wore jeans, lots of rainbow beads, a stripy headband and pumps that are bold with little flowery bits on the front, "Hi, I'm Sally, Sally Lock," she had twinkly eyes and was a real hippy.
That was them, "Incase you haven't noticed, Taylor is my daughter.
"Yes, mum, I think everyone knows that," she smiled in her gleeful, pixie way.
"Actually that is what they based the movie on!" Missy stated, "It's a really good book about men, apparently.
"Let's see if it works then! I hope it does," Taylor added.
