Teen Story - Chapter 7 - Step to the Beat

Cheryl was positively pushed forward by her friends Max and Taylor into giving her dancing lessons another go. So the next week she headed for the next lesson, swinging her bag as she went. It was straw like her floppy hat which she had tied a thick, white ribbon round with a bow at the side.
When she reached them she shoved on her white heels and got to dancing.
"Ah, Cheryl, we've been waiting for you. A bit late are we?" the teacher said.
"I know, I'm sorry!" she looked down at her shoes in shame.
"Well, it's only your first strike so I'll just remember that for now."
"Thanks!" Cheryl beamed.
"Now, I am going to pair you up with Alejandro. He has been looking for a partner about his age for a long time now. Where is he?"
"Alejandro?" Cheryl asked, "I didn't see him last week."
"He is I think... yes, two years older than you. Ah, there he is!" she opened her hands and stretched them outwards diagonally right, up into the air.
He was just walking out of the changing rooms. He was about a head taller than Cheryl. He had dark brown, short hair, he had dark brown eyes and a lovely, friendly smile that lit up when he saw her. He was wearing a blue shirt that was slightly loose on his fit figure, he was also wearing smart trousers and dancing shoes.

"Hi!" he said, "I'm Alejandro!"
"Hi, I-I'm Cheryl!" she beamed coyly.
Cheryl was wearing a white, halter-neck dress with white, silvery spots. It was knee-length and fanned out at the waist. She had her hair tied up in a bun with two strands down either side of her face and the bun was slightly messy. it got worse as they danced through the night, laughing all the way. They even did the twist for fun!
He put her hand on his shoulder and in his hand. he put his hand on her waist. He taught her some basic latin ballroom steps in the corner while the teacher taught the rest of the class.
At the end of the lesson when they were in the changing rooms pulling off their shoes he asked her, "You were good. Do you want to enter competitions with me?"
She smiled at him, "Thanks but do you really think I'm good enough for contests!?"
"I think with the right training you could be," he grinned.
She was humming, singing and skipping all the way home. Practising out her new steps as she went.
